In 2020 I was privileged to have time to spend wandering the streets of Kyoto taking pictures. With the pandemic, foreign tourism has completely stopped and the usually busy streets are empty of tourists. Yet Kyoto remains popular for Japanese as well, and many have taken advantage of cheap hotels and travel rates to come and enjoy the sights of the city.
The photos in this collection are a smattering of shots around the Kiyomizu/Gion area, and of the Coming of Age Ceremony in early January at Heian Shrine.
